VFX development for short film remastering “THE SLEUTHS: The Stone Circle” («СЫЩИКИ: Каменный круг»)

This was our student project from the second-year VGIK students in 2010. I was responsible for creating the visual effects (in After Effects). Ten years later, as part of my self-study in DaVinci Resolve and Fusion, I decided to enthusiastically remaster this old work: frame by frame (using sequences) to upscale the footage to Ultra HD and completely redesign all the visual effects from scratch. In 2023, I finished this full remaster, and now it can be viewed on YouTube, along with additional materials such as bloopers, behind-the-scenes footage, and, of course, the visual effects creation process.

SYNOPSIS
A mysterious stranger leaves a box containing a bank card, a letter, and an ancient amulet at the door of a sleuths agency. In the letter, he asks them to eliminate a global threat — a demon named Shub-Niggurath. The sleuths eagerly take on the case, but it turns out that a cult worshiping the demon is behind it all…
